Are these courses “SIA approved”?

The SIA licenses individuals but does not approve or vet training providers. The licence-linked qualifications must be delivered through an appropriate approved awarding-organisation centre.

Do I need First Aid before Door Supervisor or Security Officer training?

For the relevant Door Supervisor and Security Guard / Security Officer licence-linked pathways, learners need acceptable First Aid evidence meeting current SIA rules. STS includes EFAW within the listed Door Supervisor and Security Officer course / refresher packages.

Is “Top-Up” still the correct renewal course name?

For Door Supervisor and Security Guard / Security Officer renewals, the current terminology is refresher training. “Formerly Top-Up” may be used only to help existing licence holders recognise the route.

Is CCTV Refresher mandatory for SIA licence renewal?

No. The CCTV refresher shown here is an optional professional skills update / CPD course, not a current SIA-mandated CCTV renewal requirement.

Does Security Trainer Development give me an SIA trainer licence?

No. There is no separate SIA trainer licence. Trainers delivering licence-linked qualifications must meet the applicable SIA and awarding-organisation requirements.

Is the SIA licence application fee included?

No. Course fees cover the stated training package. Any SIA licence application or renewal fee is paid separately to the SIA.
